The subject of my independendent project was "Starting up a STEM based School Program". Its purpose is to provide educators and administrators with the guidelines, process and qualifications to begin implementation of a K - 8 STEM school. The content of my live binder includes an outline for an Action Plan, a STEM Curriculum, and STEM Resources.
This was a ten week project in which we were to explore the use of digital texts and tools as a means to connect, collaborate, and share.
There is a plethora of tools, and software available for teachers to effectively and efficiently assess their students as well as engage and make the learning or assessing fun. Here is a plan on how to use technology in the classroom to formally assess. This math lesson on Time shows how technology could be integrated into the lesson in order to assess.
In this unit, students will design surveys and collect, organize, analyze, describe, and represent the data related to the surveys. Students will submit text, images, and data as well as share this information on a common project website. They will also receive statistical data and information from students in other parts of the world. They will look at similarities and differences of their own physical attributes and lifestyles to those of others and gain insight into the lives of others. Students will use digital tools to collaborate, organize, and present what they have learned.

Embedding Technology
Math & Science Lesson
As a technology leader part of my responsiblity woudl be to make recommendations on lesson and support teacher's in embedding technology into their lessons. While revising a lesson we would keep in mind the Substitution Augmentation Modification Redefinition (SAMR) model designed by Dr. Ruben Puentedura. Here is a sample lesson of how technology can be integrated into a science/math lesson.
Using Storify to summarize the meanings of readings that included discussions and information on project based learning, participatory learning, and new learning management systems. Many of these new learning styles or approaches are project based, collaborative and include technology.
